Is having my tax refund directly deposited through Turbo Tax different than regular direct deposit?
Quake22 asked:
The reason I ask is that I have not received my economic stimulus check yet and my SSN is under 19 (so I was supposed to receive the direct deposit by now). I filed my taxes through Turbo Tax and my refund was directly deposited in my account. Will I get a paper check in the mail? Or should it be directly deposited in my account?

yes it is different because the IRS does not have your bank info

If you chose to have payment for filing taxes (via Turbo Tax) taken out of your refund rather than using a credit card, you will indeed get a paper check. Here’s the Turbo Tax website with more info:
However, if you paid with a credit card, the IRS should have your direct deposit information and your rebate/stimulus check should be direct deposited.
The difference is that when paying with a credit card, the bank information along with your taxes are transmitted to the IRS. When you request that payment be withheld from your refund, Turbo Tax has to set up a temporary account thru Santa Barbara Bank and Trust and your subsequent refund is actually a refund TRANSFER from the Santa Barbara account to your direct deposit account. In this instance, the IRS would not have your personal banking information. They would only have the Santa Barbara Bank and Trust information. That’s the way I understand it anyway.
You may also want to double check with the information on to make sure you’re eligible for the stimulus check. Not everyone is eligible.

Its doesnt matter what tax service you used I used turbo tax also but I didnt pay any fees, My direct deposit came from US-TREASURY not 3rd party so THE IRS has my baning info . It only matters if you did rapid refund or had the prep fees taken out of your 2007 refund.

Unfortunately, any tax refund deposited through a 3rd party where your fees were taken out of that deposit resulted in direct deposits to your account “through” the 3rd party bank.
Because of this, IRS does NOT have your bank account information, and you’ll have to wait for a paper check.

Look at your bank statement showing the direct deposit of your original refund. If it lists the source as “US TREASURY” then your original refund came directly from the IRS, and your rebate will also be direct deposited. If it lists the source as “SBB&T” (which stands for Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, a TurboTax partner), or any other source, then your oginal refund did NOT come directly from the IRS, and your rebate will come by paper check.
