If its a business, you have to worry about taxes. If you are just selling old personal stuff, there is no need to worry about taxes, unless you are selling it for more than you paid (unlikely).

You dont.. eBay is fantastic. There is no need for any tax unless you are a registered business which if you are just starting to sell on eBay… I doubt it.

Check out my website where you can learn how to start making a real profit on eBay.

Legally you probably have to collect sales tax from sales you make to California residents. That varies from state to state though, and CA is so greedy they might want a piece of all of it.

Income taxes probably don’t apply if you’re selling things you bought for less than you paid for them.

Reality wise, I would be surprised if the Brown Shirted State Thugs busted you for avoiding sales tax.

Ebay.. the name spell success. It is a big business having multi billions dollars of tranaction happening in a year. There are countless person having a earning of 6 figure income. And of course many others having a regular income varying netween $500-$5000 per month. There are many persons, who has taken up this as a career but dropped it because they did not feel as an opportunity due to some or the other reason. There are certain guidelines which need to be followed to be successful in ebay like other business demands. For details visit
