Candy, soda to get higher tax

Your favorite soft drink or candy bar might cost a little more starting Tuesday, as the state of Illinois puts some tax changes in place. The state is reclassifying certain sweets and soft drinks that, until now, haven’t been subject to Illinois’ full sales-tax rate, which runs as high as 10.25 percent in Chicago.
